According to a statement by Supreme Court press service head Aziz Obidov, former police officer Tal'at Shodmonov has the right to file a repeated supervisory appeal. Response letters sent by the court do not restrict this right.
Tal'at Shodmonov was convicted in 2017 under Article 205-1 (Abuse of power) and Article 209-1 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code while serving as a prevention inspector in Jambay District Police. He was sentenced to 2 years 6 months of corrective labor but exempted from the main punishment under a 2016 amnesty.
On August 5, 2025, a judge of the Supreme Court's criminal cases board rejected his lawyer's appeal due to insufficient grounds. However, Supreme Court letters dated December 25, 2025, January 26, 2026, and February 19, 2026, do not limit the right to file a repeated supervisory appeal.
Previously, Shodmonov told Kun.uz that he faced pressure after "disturbing" people connected to a deputy prosecutor. He claimed a criminal case was initiated against him despite acting within the law.
