In Surkhandarya region, over 8,000 young people practice kurash, the national wrestling sport. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at a meeting in the region that infrastructure for this sport, which has become part of cultural identity, will be developed.

A modern training center will be built this year in Denov based on the "Zamondosh" camp. The center will provide full training, camps, competitions, and preparation for international tournaments for kurash athletes.

The president also emphasized conditions for young wrestlers in Boysun. At the local boarding school where kurash is already practiced, young athletes will be able to combine training with studies starting from the new academic year.

It was previously reported that in schools under construction in the regions, alongside national kurash, professional training in Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling will begin.
