In Samarkand, a traffic police officer driving a patrol car struck a 75-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road at an undesignated spot. The accident occurred on July 21 at around 6:15 PM on Shabbod Street.

According to the regional traffic safety department, the officer was driving a Tracker patrol vehicle when he hit the man. The pedestrian died at the scene from his injuries.

The Samarkand city prosecutor's office is conducting a pre-investigation check into the incident. The circumstances of the accident are being established.

The traffic safety department urged all road users to strictly follow the rules to prevent such tragedies.
