A project worth 32 billion soums (approximately $2.6 million) is underway to beautify a 9-kilometer stretch of the Qorasuv Canal in the O‘rta Chirchiq district of the Tashkent region, according to the presidential press service.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the work carried out on the canal bank on July 22. Construction began last year and is planned in two phases.

The first phase involved beautifying a 1.6-kilometer section between the Tinchlik and Qorasuv mahallas. Modern pedestrian walkways, a fountain, workout areas, an aquapark, and an under-bridge tunnel have been built in the area.

Decorative trees and comfortable benches have been installed, along with public catering and service outlets.

In the next phase, entertainment, recreation, and gastronomic streets will be organized along the section passing through the Qorasuv, Rovatak, and Fayzobod mahallas. The number of trade and service facilities will be increased to six, creating 150 new jobs.

The presidential press service noted that the beautification of coastal areas is seen not only as creating recreational spaces but also as an opportunity to develop trade, services, and employment in the regions.

On Wednesday, the president also inspected a new road interchange at the intersection of the A373 highway and the Tashkent Ring Road. The transport solution on the border of the Bektemir and O‘rta Chirchiq districts is valued at 240 billion soums ($19.5 million). It includes a bridge, a 450-meter tunnel, a roundabout, and other facilities.
