Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 22 took part in a ceremonial meeting with the public of Tashkent region at the 'Yangi Uzbekistan' park in Nurafshan. The event gathered representatives of the older generation, youth, and activists from the region.

During his speech, the head of state emphasized that Nurafshan has been radically transformed in a short period, evolving from a territory without its own administrative center into a symbol of New Uzbekistan and the country's first 'smart city'. Parks 'Yangi Uzbekistan' and 'Vatanparvar', the memorial complex of Zulfiya Zakirova, an artificial lake, and an amphitheater have already been built here. The urban planning concept of Nurafshan relies on digital management, intelligent transport, and ecological infrastructure.

Today, the city is being prepared to become a major scientific and technological hub. In Nurafshan, a Youth Town is being created, featuring a Palace of Culture with 1,000 seats, an AI Center, and an Information Resource Library. The foundation stone for a Future Technologies Center on 35 hectares was also laid. As part of the 'Nurafshan Business City' project, a multifunctional medical center with 700 beds, supported by telemedicine and robotics, as well as a large tourist-cultural complex with an Eastern bazaar and artisan streets, will be built.

The president called the Tashkent region one of the main pillars of the republic's economy, noting that the region accounts for about 10% of the country's GDP. Over the past five years, $16 billion in foreign investment has been attracted to the region, about 3,000 enterprises with foreign capital are operating, and export volumes have approached $3 billion. To integrate the region with the capital, a decision was made to expand the public transport network and launch new trains between Tashkent and Nurafshan. With this, the head of state's trip to the Tashkent region concluded.
