In the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, plans are underway to construct solar-heated greenhouses, modeled after Spain's Almería. This initiative was discussed at a meeting on the socio-economic development of Surkhandarya region, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Entrepreneurs implementing such projects will receive land plots free of charge for five years and be exempt from fees for using groundwater for three years.

The meeting also highlighted the high potential of pasture farming. The Boysun district has approximately 197,000 hectares of pastures. By restoring pump stations on the Daryo River, 10,000 hectares of land are planned to be brought into agricultural use, with 1,500 hectares allocated for potato cultivation and the rest for forage crops.

Reserve pasture lands will be auctioned with a starting price of 1% of the normative value. Winning bidders can obtain loans for up to 10 years at 14% annual interest, with a three-year grace period. Additionally, subsidies of up to 120 million soums per 10 hectares are provided for water supply.

Under a three-year program, authorities aim to bring 58,000 hectares of pastures into economic use and organize the maintenance of up to 300,000 sheep and goats.
