In the first days of September, a sharp cold snap has been observed in the Gissar State Reserve, which is under the Department of Protected Natural Areas of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology.

The high-altitude areas of the Mirakin and Gelon departments of the reserve have been covered with snow. This is an unusual phenomenon for September, potentially indicating climate variability.

The Gissar State Reserve was established in 1983 in the Kashkadarya region with the aim of preserving the pristine natural complexes of the northwestern spurs of the Gissar Range, studying natural processes, implementing scientific foundations of nature conservation, and protecting rare flora and fauna.

The reserve consists of the Gelon, Mirakin, Tankhazdarya, and Kyzylsu departments. Its total area is about 81,000 hectares, of which 35,000 hectares are high-altitude areas, rocks, ravines, and glaciers.
