Clubs in Uzbekistan's Super League are allowed to register up to 6 foreign players this year. Diyor Imomkhujaev, General Director of the Professional Football League of Uzbekistan (PFL), explained the reasoning behind this limit.
Imomkhujaev stated that currently, foreign players receive lower salaries than local Uzbekistani footballers. "The league can now register all contracts, and I can tell you that 95% of foreign players earn less than local Uzbekistani footballers. This limit is also necessary to prevent artificial inflation of local players' value and maintain balance," he said.
For reference: starting from 2026, Super League clubs will be permitted to include 6 foreign players in the PFL roster, with up to 5 allowed on the field simultaneously.
According to data released after the transfer window closed, 83 foreign players have been registered in the Super League this year. The most come from Serbia and Georgia – 13 each, followed by Nigeria (7), Brazil, North Macedonia, and Russia – 5 each.
