According to the State Security Service (SGB), a sector head at Xalq Bank in Romitan district promised to help obtain an 800 million sum loan through contacts at another bank, demanding $2,000 in return. He was detained while receiving $1,000 via an intermediary. The SGB stated that a criminal case has been initiated and investigative actions are underway.

Xalq Bank's press service denied the report, calling it "inaccurate" and urging the public not to spread unverified information until official conclusions are reached. The bank claimed the employee was on leave in Tashkent at the time of the incident. However, the bank's statement on Telegram was later deleted.
