Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. In the Jambay district of the Samarkand region, centuries-old plane trees have been granted the status of state nature monuments. Trees over 100 years old have been placed under state protection.
Work to identify valuable plantings continues in the district as part of measures to preserve green areas. In particular, environmental inspectors surveyed the territories of Kukgumbaz and Kholvoy mahallas, where they discovered plane trees exceeding a century in age.
These very trees, by decision of the Jambay district hokim, were assigned the status of "State Nature Monument". They are now under state protection. Specialists continue to survey other areas of the district to identify trees of ecological and historical value.
Earlier, "Uzkosmos" showed from space how Amir Temur Square changed over several years, where in 2009 a mass felling of centuries-old plane trees occurred.
