Ismoil Jahongirov, a prisoner convicted for the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov, has died in prison. According to relatives who informed Kun.uz, they were told that Jahongirov committed suicide.

The incident occurred on February 26, 2026: it is reported that Jahongirov made a rope from his clothing in his prison cell and hanged himself. The deceased was buried on February 27.

Ismoil Jahongirov was found guilty of the attempted assassination of Presidential Administration employee Komil Allamjonov, which took place on October 26, 2024, and was sentenced to 23 years in prison on February 12, 2025.

After the attempt, he, along with Shokhrukh Akhmedov, published a video statement online admitting to being the perpetrator of the crime. By court verdict, Shokhrukh Akhmedov was also sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Additionally, former head of the Presidential State Security Service's own security department Shukhrat Rasulov was sentenced to 23 years in prison as the mastermind of the attempt, and businessman Javlon Yunusov, extradited from South Korea, was sentenced to 18 years in prison as an intermediary between the mastermind and the perpetrators.
