Uzbekistan has analyzed the employment outcomes of higher education graduates, taking into account gender differences. Data from the Graduate Quality Index (BSI) showed that women find work faster after graduation, but their average salary is significantly lower than that of men.

According to the study, the employment rate among female graduates is 85.1%, while among male graduates it is 80.4%. On average, women find employment within two months, whereas young men need about three months to secure a job.

However, the income situation is different. The average salary of male graduates is 6 million soums, while for women it is 3.9 million soums. Thus, men earn on average 2.1 million soums, or almost 54%, more.

The study also identified five fields of study whose graduates demonstrate the highest results in the labor market. Among women, the top five included transport services, mathematics and statistics, education, business and management, and humanities. Among men, the highest indicators were recorded in business and management, healthcare, arts, mathematics and statistics, and information and communication technologies.

The BSI results show that female university graduates find work more often and faster, while men have an advantage in average salary levels. At the same time, the presented data do not allow determining the causes of the income gap. This requires additional analysis of occupations, positions, employment conditions, and other factors.
