A unified production complex for the leather and footwear industry worth $28 million is being established in the Altynkul district of Andijan region, Uzbekistan. The facility aims to integrate raw material processing, component production, and finished footwear manufacturing.

The industrial zone hosts 17 projects with a total production capacity of 150 billion soums. Ten enterprises will produce footwear and soles, two will manufacture artificial leather, and another two will produce shoe glue. The remaining projects cover rubber footwear, uppers for special-purpose shoes, and leather raw materials.

The complex spans 10.1 hectares, with 5.5 hectares already built up with production buildings, a dual education center, and retail facilities. It has created 2,500 jobs. Enterprises in the zone supply products to Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan.

Specialists trained in Turkey, China, and Italy have been involved in production. During a visit to Andijan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the projects and product samples, with particular attention to quality, competitiveness, and export expansion.

Earlier, it was reported that a $25 million smart water meter production facility was launched in the Khodjaabad district of Andijan region.
