Uzbekistan will host the 16th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2031. The decision was supported by all member states participating in the current 15th Congress held in Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made by Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, who is attending the event.

The 15th Congress brings together around 5,000 representatives from various countries. Participants are discussing the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, corruption, and environmental offenses, as well as child protection and strengthening the rule of law.

On the sidelines of the congress, Saida Mirziyoyeva met with Monika Juma, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. According to Mirziyoyeva, Uzbekistan actively cooperates with UNODC and implements joint projects.

The decision to hold the next congress in Uzbekistan was enshrined in the final declaration of the 15th Congress. Preparations for the event will take five years. In 2031, Uzbekistan will welcome delegations from around the world.
