In Namangan, the acting chief specialist of the city's public reception office was detained while receiving a $1,500 bribe. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office reported the incident.

The operation was conducted by the department's Namangan city branch. The official had promised a citizen to allocate 4 sotks (0.4 hectares) of land in Yangi Namangan district for housing construction and to process the documents. In return, he received $1,500 in his office, where he was caught with material evidence.

According to the department, the detained individual has a prior criminal record. A criminal case has been initiated under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, the State Security Service reported the detention of two officials in Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions suspected of taking bribes for processing land plots and cadastral documents. One received $2,500, the other $1,000.
