A delegation from Uzbekistan Railways (O'zbekiston temir yo'llari) held talks with South Korean company Hyundai Rotem on upgrading high-speed trains and potentially purchasing eight additional trainsets. The new trains will feature separate VIP cars with modern seats.
The delegation of Uzbekistan Railways met with Hyundai Rotem management in Berlin as part of the InnoTrans 2026 international transport technology exhibition. One of the main topics of the meeting was improving passenger comfort. The parties agreed to modify the last two cars in the already planned high-speed trainsets. Instead of business-class seats, they will install VIP seats with tables. Each trainset will have one such car.
In addition, Uzbekistan Railways and Hyundai Rotem discussed a new contract for the purchase of eight high-speed electric trains. It is expected that each new trainset will include a separate VIP car. It is planned to install modern capsule seats there. The final configuration and specifications will be determined during the preparation of documentation.
The talks with Hyundai Rotem were part of the Uzbek delegation's business program at InnoTrans 2026. In Berlin, Uzbekistan Railways delegates also met with representatives of the European Commission, China's CRRC Corporation Limited, Deutsche Bahn, railway companies from Serbia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and the Czech Skoda Group. With CRRC, they discussed maintenance of new trains, purchase of locomotives, creation of a service center for repair and maintenance of locomotives, as well as production of modern freight cars with gauge-changing capability.
With Deutsche Bahn, the parties agreed on advanced training for Uzbek specialists and joint scientific developments. There were also negotiations on digitalization of the railway industry with Huawei and other technology companies. The InnoTrans exhibition is held in Berlin every two years and is considered one of the largest international platforms for demonstrating new technologies in the field of railway and public transport.
Earlier, the launch of new high-speed electric trains "Jaloliddin Manguberdi" from Hyundai Rotem on various routes in Uzbekistan was reported.
