The Competition Committee has identified violations of legislative requirements in setting prices for paid services at three medical institutions in Namangan, Samarkand, and Navoi regions. As a result of the inspections, cases of unjustified collection of about 125 million soums from citizens were recorded.
In particular, at the Namangan Regional Children's Multidisciplinary Medical Center, in February, March, and April 2026, a total of 34.3 million soums was unjustifiably collected from 416 consumers for ultrasound services. According to the Committee, the funds were collected without conducting a comparative review.
According to Article 10 of the Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights", setting different prices for works and services of the same volume and quality, including artificially raising or lowering them, is prohibited.
During a study at the Kattakurgan District Health Department of Samarkand Region, it was found that in 2024−2025, as a result of increasing prices for paid medical services without complying with established procedures, about 55.7 million soums were overcharged from patients.
Also, at the Navoi Regional Branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health, in 2023−2025, an increase in prices for paid medical services without complying with established requirements was detected. As a result, about 35 million soums were overcharged from patients.
According to the Committee, special commissions of the territorial departments of Namangan, Samarkand, and Navoi regions have initiated cases against these three medical institutions in accordance with established procedures.
The institutions have been given binding instructions to reform tariffs based on current procedures and requirements, optimize prices, and return about 125 million soums to consumers.
Earlier, the Competition Committee conducted a price study at 8 medical institutions and found that over 285.4 million soums were overcharged from more than 127,000 patients. The agency initiated cases against six hospitals and ensured an average reduction in service prices by 5−10%.
