Tashkent, Uzbekistan – The Ministry of Energy has clarified that private companies servicing gas equipment do not have the right to demand that residents enter into contracts or threaten to cut off gas for refusing their services. This was reported by the ministry's press service.
According to current rules, technical maintenance of gas equipment and networks can be carried out not only by gas supply organizations but also by private companies. However, they must have the necessary permits. At the same time, the consumer decides whether to use their services or not. Such servicing can be ordered in writing, orally, or electronically. The service must be provided on agreed terms and at established tariffs.
A private firm does not have the right to force a contract and use its services. It also cannot disconnect a home from gas for refusing servicing — it does not have such powers. The ministry separately explained: a private service company has no authority to disconnect a consumer from gas for refusing its services. If a consumer has debt for natural gas, the issue of disconnection is decided by the gas supply organization in accordance with the established procedure. A private company cannot do this independently.
If necessary, to check a gas stove, boiler, or other equipment, residents can also contact the territorial gas supply organizations "Hududgaztaminot". If representatives of a private company demand to use their services, threaten to cut off gas, or raise suspicions, this can be reported to the Ministry of Energy's hotline +998 71 231-10-64 or via a special Telegram bot. Also, one can contact "Hududgaztaminot" at 1104 or +998 71 202-11-04. The company's Telegram bot also works for appeals.
The Ministry of Energy also reminded: in winter, it is important to monitor the safety of gas equipment itself. Residents are advised to regularly check the condition of gas stoves and boilers, and monitor the serviceability and cleanliness of chimneys and ventilation. This is especially important in the cold season when gas equipment is used more often. Following these simple rules will help avoid gas leaks, fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning.
The main rule for consumers: private servicing can be chosen voluntarily, and no one has the right to demand it under threat of gas disconnection. Recall that Uzbekistan will introduce a new system for supplying liquefied gas to the population. "Hududgaztaminot" will purchase gas through the exchange and deliver it to consumers.
