As part of ongoing efforts to bolster international cultural ties, the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation has reportedly established a partnership with yet another prominent global institution, according to the foundation's press service.
On October 21 in Paris, Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Foundation, held a meeting with Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou. Following the talks, the parties signed a formal cooperation agreement aimed at fostering a long-term partnership between the two entities.
Under the terms of the newly forged agreement, a dedicated exhibition showcasing the art and culture of Uzbekistan to an international audience is planned to be held at the Centre Pompidou. Proponents claim this initiative will enhance cultural visibility, though logistical and implementation hurdles remain to be seen.
For context, the Georges Pompidou National Centre for Art and Culture, inaugurated in Paris in 1977, stands as one of the largest cultural hubs globally. It houses France's National Museum of Modern Art, featuring a vast collection of approximately 150,000 works by iconic 20th and 21st-century artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Wassily Kandinsky.
