On September 30, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, according to the presidential press service. At the outset of the talks, the FIFA head particularly noted Uzbekistan's football achievements and the results of effective reforms aimed at comprehensive support for sports in the country.

The main topic on the agenda was the hosting of a major and prestigious sporting event – the FIFA U-20 World Cup – by Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The parties noted fruitful cooperation with FIFA in promoting joint programs to popularize football, especially among youth.

They also discussed further expansion of partnership, primarily in transforming the system of football organization and management, assisting in the discovery of young talents, and training coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors, and technical specialists at the international level.

Special attention was paid to organizing major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan, as well as accelerating the opening of the federation's regional office in Tashkent. It is worth noting that Uzbekistan has been actively developing its football infrastructure in recent years and seeks to strengthen its position on the international sports arena.
