Consumer inflation in Uzbekistan reached 0.7% in September, marking the highest monthly rate recorded since the beginning of the year, matching the figures seen at the close of January, according to reports from the National Statistical Committee.

The statistical data indicates that monthly inflation increased by 0.5 percentage points compared to August, when it stood at 0.2%. Meanwhile, annual inflation slowed down to 6.4% from the 8% recorded in September of the previous year, though it showed a slight uptick from August's 6.2% figure.

Price increases were broadly distributed across major categories, with food products rising by 1% over the month and services increasing by 0.9%. Fuel prices, including gasoline and propane, also saw notable hikes, further exacerbating the cost of living and transportation expenses for households.

The education and utilities sectors experienced substantial upward adjustments as well. Tuition fees at state universities, public kindergarten fees, and private schooling costs rose by approximately 6% to 7% due to regulatory and baseline calculation changes. Geographically, Surkhandarya region and Tashkent city registered the highest regional inflation rates for the month.
