President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the critical deficit of vacant land plots for new projects within the existing districts of Tashkent, pointing out that local authorities are struggling to find available areas for urban development and investment initiatives.

To resolve this mounting limitation, the authorities announced that each district of the capital will initially be allocated 100 hectares of land within the newly developing New Tashkent area. District leaders have been instructed to dedicate one day a week exclusively to managing projects in the new city and to submit monthly progress reports directly to the head of state.

The comprehensive master plan also envisions designating specific zones for each region of the country within New Tashkent, including naming major streets after various provinces and establishing dedicated community neighborhoods. Meanwhile, land demand has driven prices significantly upward, with per-hectare costs surging from under 10 billion soms to 19 billion soms amid competitive auctions.

A total of 20,000 hectares has been allocated for the construction of New Tashkent. The first phase aims to implement projects worth $50 billion across a 60,000-hectare area, with total investment potential projected to reach up to $200 billion when factoring in a planned international airport.
