Local authorities in the Mirzaabad district of the Syrdarya region have taken administrative action against a driver who was caught flagrantly violating safety regulations by transporting an excessive number of preschool children in a small Damas vehicle.

The incident occurred on October 8 within the Tashkent neighborhood during a routine traffic safety check. Law enforcement officers intercepted the vehicle after noticing clear signs of overcrowding, subsequently discovering a total of 13 kindergarten children packed inside the compact car.

Following the interception, an official report was drawn up against the driver under the relevant article of the Administrative Responsibility Code, resulting in a fine equivalent to two base calculation units. Authorities also conducted a mandatory preventive discussion with the driver, who reportedly acknowledged his mistake and urged others to avoid such dangerous practices.

The illegal and hazardous practice of using subcompact vehicles—such as Damas, Matiz, and various sedans—to shuttle large groups of children to and from kindergartens remains a widespread and persistent issue across the country. Earlier in September, traffic police intercepted similar unauthorized transports involving 16 children in Gulistan and 21 children in Termez.

Such widespread regulatory violations have repeatedly culminated in fatal accidents on regional roads. Back in May, a Matiz carrying 14 children crashed in the Nurata district, resulting in the driver's death and multiple injuries among the minors. In a separate tragic incident in the Andijan region, a driver carrying 21 children in a Tracker vehicle caused a crash that claimed the life of a six-year-old girl and injured several others, leading to a subsequent criminal conviction.
