A delegation from the Cultural Heritage Agency of Uzbekistan has conducted a working visit to neighboring Afghanistan. The primary objective of the mission was to assess the current physical condition of historical monuments connected to the shared history and cultural heritage of the broader regional space.

The official visit took place from October 7 to 11, led by Azizdjan Aripdjanov, the deputy director of the agency. Uzbek representatives toured cultural sites across the provinces of Balkh, Tahar, Sar-e Pol, and Faryab, conducting detailed inspections and gathering documentation for prospective preservation initiatives.

Among the prominent landmarks examined by the delegation were the Rawzai-Mubarak mausoleum in Mazar-i-Sharif, the pilgrimage site associated with Boborahim Mashrab in Tahar province, an ancient brick bridge in Sar-e Pol, as well as the Khisht-Pul and Eidgah mosques, the Imamzadeh Yahya mausoleum, and the Bobo Vali John madrasah in Faryab. The delegates also visited the Bobo Vali reservoir, originally constructed through charitable endowments by Alisher Navoi.

During the bilateral meetings, the Afghan side acknowledged Uzbekistan's extensive expertise in architectural restoration and expressed a keen interest in engaging Uzbek specialists. Both parties intend to formalize their cooperation through a memorandum of understanding between the Cultural Heritage Agency of Uzbekistan and the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture.
