Uzbekistan has introduced a financial incentive system for industrial enterprises of categories I and II that implement environmental protection technologies. Factories and plants reducing negative impacts on nature will be eligible for debt write-offs and significant refunds of environmental payments.

The measures are stipulated by a government resolution.

The business support process is divided into two stages. In the first stage, enterprises that install automatic air pollution monitoring stations will have their existing debt for compensation payments for environmental damage fully written off. Additionally, over the next two years, they will receive a refund of half of all environmental fees directed to the republican budget.

The second stage of the program aims at deeper modernization. If within a year after installing monitoring stations, an enterprise implements equipment for dust, gas, or local wastewater treatment, the amount refunded by the state will increase to 70% of the compensation payment sum. This support measure will also be in effect for two years.

The mechanism for obtaining benefits is maximally simplified: industrial facilities need only send a notification of equipment installation to the Ecology Committee through public service centers or the my.gov.uz portal. The relevant authority must review the application and issue a conclusion on incentives within 15 working days. These measures are expected to create an economic incentive for businesses to invest in modern filtration systems and environmental control.
