According to the press service of the Kashkadarya Region Emergency Situations Department, a brief yet intense downpour struck the mountainous areas of the Dekhkanabad district on October 13 at approximately 17:30. The heavy precipitation triggered a sudden and powerful flash flood that surged through the Shakarbulak village within the Kongirot neighborhood.
Reports indicate that the driver of a Damas vehicle and a passenger lost their way while navigating the terrain and inadvertently stopped in the path of the active mudflow channel to reassess their route. Shortly after stopping, the vehicle slipped deeper into the treacherous riverbed and became trapped.
The driver managed to exit the car, attempted to make an emergency call, and reportedly warned his companion of the rapidly approaching wall of water. Despite the warning, the violent torrent swept the vehicle away with the passenger still trapped inside, leaving no time for escape.
Subsequent search and rescue operations resulted in the recovery of the deceased passenger's body. Local authorities, including representatives from the district khokimiyat, the emergency services, and internal affairs organs, remain deployed at the scene as investigations and procedural checks continue.
