Law enforcement officers in the Tashkent region have conducted a specialized operation that resulted in the apprehension of individuals attempting to sell a substantial batch of illegal narcotics. According to official reports, two foreign nationals sought to trade over two kilograms of opium for the sum of 20,000 US dollars.

The joint operation was executed by personnel from the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The suspects, aged 50 and 54, were caught red-handed while transferring the illicit substances to a simulated buyer during a sting operation. Authorities established that the contraband had been smuggled across the border into the country prior to the attempted transaction.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident, and ongoing investigative measures are underway to uncover further details. This event follows previous border security efforts, such as an earlier interception in the Surkhandarya region where over 52 kilograms of narcotics originating from Afghanistan were successfully seized.
