Several banks and payment services have introduced a new feature in their mobile applications that mandates specifying the purpose of transfers between cards. Users are prompted to choose one of 16 categories when sending funds.
However, other payment apps like Payme, Click, and Paynet have not yet implemented such a requirement.
The Central Bank stated that banks and payment organizations, as part of digital service development, may gradually update mobile app functionalities, including clarifying transfer parameters. The "Bank and Client" Telegram channel reported that the Central Bank has sent recommendations to commercial banks and payment organizations to implement mandatory purpose selection for transfers in mobile apps.
The regulator emphasized that these changes are technical in nature, aimed at improving service operations and proper transaction processing. Each financial organization independently determines the format and scope of updates based on its app's architecture.
The Central Bank specifically noted that user-provided data is processed only within the mobile app and not shared with third parties. Users are also advised to carefully check details before confirming transfers, not share confirmation codes with others, and make financial decisions thoughtfully.
The regulator clarified that these changes will not affect the usual transaction procedures or impose additional restrictions on customers.
