In mobile applications of several banks and payment organizations in Uzbekistan, it is now mandatory to specify the purpose of card-to-card transfers. Users must select one of 16 proposed purposes. The Central Bank stated that the information entered by users is not disclosed to third parties.

The sender is prompted to choose one of 16 categories when transferring funds:

  • Payment for goods or trade;
  • Food and meal expenses;
  • Debt repayment;
  • Monetary assistance;
  • Transfer to family or relatives;
  • Gift;
  • Delivery fee;
  • Rent payment;
  • Utility payments;
  • Business trip expenses;
  • Education expenses;
  • Medical expenses;
  • Charity;
  • Gratitude (tips);
  • Entertainment expenses;
  • Investment transfers.

The Central Bank's information service noted that this recommendation aims to improve mobile app functionality and does not impose payment restrictions. Currently, the recommendation is implemented only in some applications. Recall that new rules for P2P operations come into effect on April 22.
