Average monthly energy consumption per household in Uzbekistan has reportedly decreased following a series of tariff adjustments implemented between 2023 and 2025. The figures were disclosed by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Khurshed Mustafayev during a press conference held on October 14.

Official statistics indicate that average monthly electricity consumption dropped from 212 kWh in 2023 to 184 kWh in 2025, marking a reduction of roughly 13 percent. Concurrently, natural gas consumption fell from 431 cubic meters to 342 cubic meters, representing a decline of approximately 21 percent.

The deputy minister described the shift as a positive trend, claiming that the policy adjustments are successfully fostering a culture of energy efficiency and conservation among the populace. According to his statements, citizens are allegedly adapting to the new economic realities by moderating their utility usage.

At the same briefing, Jamshid Abruyev, deputy director of the National Agency for Social Protection, elaborated on the rationale behind moving away from generalized energy subsidies toward targeted assistance. He noted that under the previous stagnant pricing structure, high-income households consuming larger volumes of energy reaped the lion's share of government support, while vulnerable families derived comparatively little benefit.
