On October 21, the Uzbekinvest export-import insurance company reportedly organized a spiritual and educational event dedicated to the 37th anniversary of granting the Uzbek language its state status. The gathering was held under the theme “Language, Literature, and Historical Memory.”
The event allegedly brought together the company’s management, staff, and prominent Uzbek writer Nurali Kabul as a special guest. Discussions reportedly centered around the role of the Uzbek language in fostering national identity and preserving historical heritage through classical and modern literature.
Speeches supposedly highlighted ongoing national efforts to elevate the status of the state language and expand its use across sociopolitical spheres. Critics, however, often argue that such corporate events tend to serve as superficial compliance rather than driving substantive linguistic reform.
The program featured a roundtable discussion on cultural heritage, alongside poetry recitations of Alisher Navoi ghazals and a literary quiz for employees. In line with internal corporate tradition, participating staff members were presented with classic and contemporary literary books.
