Authorities in the Bagat district of the Khorezm region are conducting a rigorous investigation into the deaths of a mother and her three minor children. Preliminary findings suggest the family succumbed to severe food poisoning after consuming leftover meals from a recent birthday celebration. The incident has raised serious questions regarding food safety standards and control measures within the region.

According to statements from the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office, the fatal sequence of events began on October 8. The family members reportedly ate food prepared or acquired for a birthday party held the previous day, shortly after which they exhibited acute symptoms of foodborne illness. Despite subsequent medical interventions, all four victims passed away between October 9 and October 10.

In response to the tragedy, law enforcement initiated a criminal case on October 10 under item "a" of part 4 of Article 276-11 of the Criminal Code. This legal provision addresses the production, storage, transportation, or sale of goods that fail to meet basic safety requirements, particularly when resulting in severe outcomes. Investigators are currently working to determine whether the contaminated food was purchased commercially or prepared at home.

A specialized interdepartmental commission, involving the regional Emergencies Department, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare Service, and the healthcare administration, has been deployed to the scene. Experts are meticulously examining the supply chain and environmental factors to establish the exact cause of the tragedy.
