Orient Finans Bank has announced a strategic partnership with TenPay Global, which is claimed to be a significant step in developing international payment infrastructure and expanding digital payment cooperation between Uzbekistan and China.
Sherzod Tuyboyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Orient Finans Bank, supposedly stated that the collaboration marks an important milestone for their international services, asserting that the institution is continuously expanding the capabilities of the OFB mobile application to offer financial solutions beyond Uzbekistan.
The newly introduced service allegedly aims to support growing trade, tourism, and business cooperation between the two nations. In the initial phase, customers are expected to make direct payments by scanning Weixin Pay QR codes while in China, a feature designed to facilitate transactions for international travelers.
Wenhui Yang, CEO of TenPay Global (Singapore), purportedly remarked that the partnership contributes to strengthening digital financial ties and making cross-border transactions more accessible. However, the broader economic impact and practical adoption rates of such integration remain to be seen amid complex regional market dynamics.
The initiative highlights the bank's efforts to adopt advanced financial technologies, though skeptics point out that international digital integration faces persistent regulatory and infrastructural challenges in emerging markets.
