A severe accident in the Sokh district of the Fergana region has once again highlighted deep-seated concerns regarding infrastructure quality and lax oversight in regional development projects. A newly erected concrete utility pole in the Kizilkiyok mahalla collapsed just one day after installation, causing catastrophic injuries to a local resident.

According to reports, on September 4, employees of a private firm and the local power grid enterprise installed a concrete utility pole directly outside the gate of 61-year-old Mirzomamat Sohibnazarov. The following day, on September 5, the poorly constructed pillar snapped at the base and crashed down onto the elderly man as he stepped outside.

The victim's son, Rofidjon Avazmamatov, stated that his father was rushed to the Sokh district central hospital and subsequently transferred to the city of Fergana. Due to the severity of the crush injuries, doctors were forced to amputate his right leg. The family notes that despite three months passing since the tragedy, none of the responsible organizations or entities have reached out or offered assistance.

Investigations revealed that the substandard concrete pole was manufactured by a private entity named "Solihaxon Saidaxon" and installed by the joint venture "Sokh trans dunyo jahon," led by Davlatjon Bobomansurov. Sherzod Rahimov, head of the Sokh electricity grid enterprise, acknowledged that the collapsed support structure was produced and erected by a private contractor.

Observers point out that this is reportedly not the first incident involving collapsing utility poles in the district. Such recurring structural failures raise profound questions about the integrity of concrete mixtures, manufacturing standards, and the overall accountability of the contractors involved.
