A stringent new system for professional retraining and advanced training in cyber security has reportedly been introduced across state bodies, organizations, and legal entities with a state share of 50 percent or more in Uzbekistan. These measures are supposedly aimed at reinforcing digital infrastructure defenses under a recent governmental decree.
Based on the initiatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, specialists in charge of cyber security within state-affiliated entities are now required to undergo training at the Cyber university state institution. Under the established regulations, industry employees purportedly must upgrade their professional qualifications at least once every two years to maintain compliance.
Furthermore, deputy heads of organizations overseeing digitalization and artificial intelligence issues are allegedly held directly responsible for ensuring the full participation of all subordinate personnel across central and regional structures. Individuals holding recognized foreign cyber security certificates are exempt from these courses for the duration of their certificate's validity, though the list of approved credentials remains strictly controlled by the ministry.
The educational programs are conducted in both remote and traditional formats, with refresher courses lasting 144 hours and retraining programs spanning at least 576 hours. Trainees who fail the final examinations are given a single opportunity to retake the test within three months; persistent failure forces the organization's management to retrain or replace the employee at the expense of extra-budgetary funds.
