The Tashkent city administration has officially announced a comprehensive update of panoramic imagery on Google Maps, aiming to modernize the capital's digital representation and boost its international tourism appeal.

According to official statements, the ongoing initiative involves capturing high-resolution, 360-degree photos and videos of major streets, cultural landmarks, and public spaces across the sprawling metropolitan area.

Authorities claim that the existing platform visuals, largely captured half a decade ago, reportedly fail to reflect the rapid urban transformation and modern skyline of the city today. Past panoramas allegedly showed prominent developments like Tashkent City still under construction, while subsequent green zones and infrastructure expansions remained entirely undocumented.

The imagery collection reportedly commenced in central avenues and high-traffic tourist zones, with eventual plans to progressively expand the mapping sweep to cover all districts and neighborhood streets throughout the capital.

Officials emphasize that utilizing Google Maps is strategically significant, given that the service allegedly attracts over two billion monthly active users globally, potentially serving as a prominent showcase for the country's developing tourism sector.
