American company Gulf Oil is reportedly continuing to evaluate the economic viability of establishing a network of modern gas filling stations across Uzbekistan. This was stated by Abrorjon Khudoyberganov, the deputy chairman of Uzbekneftegaz, during a press conference, according to local media reports. He claimed that prospective sites along major highways had been thoroughly studied as part of the ongoing cooperation.

According to the official, the primary role of the state enterprise was to assist the foreign investor in identifying the busiest and most promising locations. At this stage, the American partners are supposedly calculating the economic efficiency of the project, taking into account traffic intensity, vehicle counts, and regional fuel demands. However, Khudoyberganov noted that final decisions regarding construction timelines and the potential participation format of Uzbekneftegaz have not yet been officially adopted.

It is worth recalling that earlier agreements envisioned substantial investments, initially estimated at around $100 million and later reported to reach up to $250 million, with plans to build at least 100 modern stations and transport hubs. Despite these ambitious announcements made during high-level meetings, the latest updates indicate that concrete deadlines and implementation details remain uncertain amidst shifting local market conditions.
