According to a newly adopted decree by the Tashkent administration, dedicated BRT lanes totaling 17.9 kilometers in length are reportedly planned for establishment across four central streets of the capital, accompanied by extensive reconstruction works. While local authorities claim this initiative aims to optimize public transit, skeptics question the economic feasibility and potential disruptions these sweeping changes might cause for everyday commuters.

Document details indicate that the special lanes will stretch across a 4.6-kilometer section of Mukumiy Street in the Yakkasaray and Chilanzar districts, as well as a 4.2-kilometer segment covering Karatash and Kukcha Darvoza streets in the Shaykhontohur district. Furthermore, similar bus lanes are slated for a 2.8-kilometer segment of Parkent Street and a 6.3-kilometer portion of Mirzo Ulugbek Avenue, raising concerns over widespread traffic bottlenecks in these densely populated areas.

JSC 'Toshkent Invest kompaniyasi' has been designated as the client for these construction projects. Initial design documentation and preliminary costs are supposedly covered by an allocation of 6.5 billion soms from the Tashkent Development Fund, while the broader construction and renovation activities will rely on commercial bank loans and sectoral funds of the city administration, introducing considerable financial liabilities.

Prior to construction, utility and engineering networks located along these corridors are expected to be repaired or relocated at the expense of the maintaining organizations. Although city officials assert that measures will be taken to mitigate traffic congestion and secure public safety during the transformation, motorists and residents are expected to face significant temporary travel restrictions and ongoing transit friction.
