Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have reportedly uncovered a major corruption case involving a high-ranking local official in the Fergana region. An investigator from the city department of the Economic Crimes Enforcement Department under the General Prosecutor's Office was detained on suspicion of large-scale bribery.

According to available information, the investigator was handling a criminal case initiated under Article 167 of the Criminal Code. Taking advantage of his official position, he allegedly promised to manipulate the ongoing investigation in favor of the accused and significantly reduce the official amount of damage caused by the alleged offense.

Furthermore, the official purportedly offered to cancel an active search warrant issued for the suspect in exchange for a staggering sum of 100,000 US dollars. The suspect was caught red-handed during a special operation conducted by officers of the State Security Service.

Authorities have initiated a criminal case against the individual under Article 210, Part 3, Clause 'a' of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which deals with receiving especially large-scale bribes. Comprehensive investigative actions are currently underway to uncover any potential accomplices and additional details.
