During the January–September period of the current year, 109 foreign companies providing electronic services within Uzbekistan reportedly paid 232.8 billion soms in taxes to the state budget. This upward financial trend highlights the expanding footprint of foreign digital platforms in the region.
According to official figures, the number of foreign companies paying taxes on electronic services in Uzbekistan increased by 12 over the past three months alone. Since the beginning of the year, the total number of such registered entities has grown by 31.
The top ten taxpayers list is headed by tech giants Apple, which contributed 54.2 billion soms, followed by Google with 52.6 billion soms, and Meta with 46.7 billion soms. Other notable contributors in the top ranking include Valve Corp., Anthropic, OpenAI, Midasbuy, Booking.com, TikTok, and Anysphere.
Reports indicate that the total tax volume collected has surged by 85 percent compared to the previous year. However, critics suggest that such heavy reliance on foreign technological conglomerates could potentially pose long-term structural challenges and crowd out local market competitors.
