Authorities have initiated the reconstruction of a section of Mirobad Street adjacent to the well-known Mirobad (Gospitalny) Bazaar in the capital of Uzbekistan. Mirobad District Governor Anvar Saifutdinov presented the comprehensive project details to local residents during a public hearing held on Friday.
The initial phase of the renovation will focus on the area adjacent to the nine-story residential building No. 39A, where the ground floor is entirely occupied by commercial establishments and public catering outlets. According to the district administration, unauthorized outdoor terraces previously erected in this area have already been dismantled.
Under the new public-private partnership framework and in strict compliance with the city's design code, modern and standardized terraces will be constructed to allow local entrepreneurs to expand their business operations. Notably, the roofs of these new structures will be built using noise-absorbing materials to ensure residents are not disturbed during rainy weather.
Governor Saifutdinov emphasized that fostering a favorable environment for business directly generates new employment opportunities and increases tax revenues directed toward community needs. He pointed to previously reconstructed thoroughfares like Taras Shevchenko Street and Uzbekistan Ovozi Street as successful precedents that have driven up property values and boosted commercial revenues.
Furthermore, the project introduces a barrier-free urban environment, wider sidewalks achieved by shifting bicycle lanes onto the roadway, and integrated green corridors. The redesigned space will feature new trees and shrubs, benches, waste receptacles, modern lighting systems, surveillance cameras, and emergency call buttons.
