During a recent press conference dedicated to the development of the capital's public transportation, officials in Uzbekistan unveiled extensive modernization plans for the Tashkent Metro. The strategy aims to fundamentally transform the underground transit network by the year 2030 to accommodate the city's growing logistical needs.

According to the presented project, the metro network is projected to expand from its current 50 stations to a total of 79. Furthermore, the overall length of the operational lines is expected to reach 103 kilometers, providing broader connectivity across newly developed residential neighborhoods and industrial districts.

Authorities also intend to optimize train scheduling by reducing intervals between arrivals to just two to three minutes. These operational improvements are projected to drive daily ridership up from the current level of over 1.2 million to an anticipated 1.8 million passengers per day, necessitating continuous fleet modernization and the integration of advanced digital management systems.

The aggressive expansion schedule is driven by ongoing demographic growth and urban sprawl in Tashkent. Officials highlighted that over the past seven years, the metro has already added 21 new stations and extended its lines by 33 kilometers, paving the way for a dramatic surge in daily commuters compared to figures recorded in 2021.
