Israel and Lebanon have reached an agreement on a 10-day ceasefire, as announced by United States President Donald Trump on social media. Trump stated that after speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, the truce will take effect at 5:00 PM EST (21:00 GMT).

Trump wrote, “These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE.” This announcement aims to reduce recent tensions between the two states, but questions remain about the long-term stability of the agreement.

The ceasefire is seen as a significant step in the regional peace process, yet the US initiative and Trump’s role are met with skepticism. Many analysts doubt the practical effectiveness of this truce and its potential to lead to lasting peace, as underlying regional conflicts persist unresolved.
