Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. DR Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre stated after the defeat to Colombia that his team will only accept a victory in the match against Uzbekistan.
DR Congo lost 0-1 to Colombia in the second round of Group K. The only goal was scored by Daniel Munoz in the 76th minute. With this win, Colombia collected 6 points, while Desabre's team remained with one point.
Now the match against Uzbekistan becomes decisive for the Congolese. Desabre admitted that after the loss to Colombia, his team will have to take risks.
"First of all, we will recover. The next match will come very quickly. We will need to take risks. A draw will not be enough. Now we need to analyze our game and move forward. We will be ready for Uzbekistan. They have several excellent defenders," the coach said.
The coach also separately noted that the game with Uzbekistan will not be easy. "Uzbekistan will be a tough opponent because they defend well, but we will give our all. Now we need to rest and recover energy," Desabre stated.
For the Uzbekistan national team, the match against DR Congo is also the last chance to continue the fight. After defeats to Colombia and Portugal, Fabio Cannavaro's team is without points and can no longer reach the top two in the group. The only scenario is a victory over DR Congo and waiting for favorable results in the ranking of the best third-placed teams.
Earlier it was reported that Mexico won Group A, and South Africa reached the World Cup playoffs for the first time. After the final matches of the quartet, the first final standings of the group stage became known.
