A Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv has killed at least 10 people and injured 46, marking the second large-scale assault on the city in less than a week. The attack early Monday morning damaged over a dozen residential buildings.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, reported the casualties. Another person was killed and 10 injured in the surrounding districts. Ukraine's military claimed the Russian regime fired 68 missiles and 351 drones overnight.

The Kyiv Independent reported explosions starting at around 1:40 a.m. local time, followed by further strikes at 2:10 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. Thousands of residents reportedly fled to underground shelters as air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine.

At least 15 buildings were damaged in Kyiv, including four in the historic Podilskyi district. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the death toll may rise, Tkachenko said.

In his nightly address Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of a potential new Russian assault before the NATO summit in Turkey this week. He is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the summit starting Tuesday.

Late last week, the Russian regime hit Kyiv with dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones, killing 31 people in the deadliest attack on the capital this year. Both sides have expanded their use of long-range weapons, with Ukraine targeting Russian energy facilities.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol in occupied Crimea, said a Ukrainian strike near the city knocked out electricity supplies.
