In the early hours of July 6, Russia launched a massive air strike on Kyiv, the second major attack on the Ukrainian capital in a week.

According to the latest reports, 12 people were killed and more than 50 were wounded. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko declared July 7 a day of mourning for the victims.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 68 missiles, including 23 ballistic missiles, and 351 drones of various types overnight. Of these, 37 missiles and 326 drones were shot down or neutralized.

The main target was Kyiv. Preliminary data indicate that 29 ballistic missiles and 18 drones struck 34 locations, with debris falling in 16 other areas.

Ukraine's Interior Ministry said about 30 residential buildings were damaged or destroyed in Kyiv. In the Podil district, part of a residential building collapsed, while in Darnytsia, missile debris hit a 25-story building.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the “massive strike with precision weapons” on Ukraine, calling it a “response to terrorist attacks by the Kyiv regime on Russian territory.” The ministry claimed the targets were military-industrial enterprises and fuel-energy facilities in Kyiv and the region, as well as infrastructure of military airfields in other parts of Ukraine.
