A man is on the run in the southern Indian state of Telangana after allegedly killing six people, including a 16-year-old girl who had accused him of stalking. The suspect, who had been granted anticipatory bail on stalking charges, is believed to have killed the girl, her mother, and her grandmother on Friday night before returning home to murder his wife and two sons.

After the killings, the man reportedly called his father and confessed to the murders, stating he also planned to take his own life. The father immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. The suspect remains at large.

The accused had been arrested on May 26 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case has sparked outrage and renewed concerns about violence against children in India.

According to a report by IndiaSpends, nearly 188,000 cases were registered against children in 2024, with kidnapping and POCSO cases accounting for 77% of all registered cases. The incident also follows violent protests in West Bengal over the alleged rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl.
