The head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, announced the launch of comprehensive military operations aimed at recapturing remaining territories held by the Houthi armed movement and restoring state authority throughout the nation. In a televised speech delivered on Sunday, al-Alimi stated that forces aligned with the internationally recognized administration intend to assert control over the entire national territory under an approved operational plan.

"We have instructed the armed forces, security apparatus, and all military formations to carry out their assigned duties until the country is liberated," al-Alimi asserted. He added that all state institutions will operate under full alert until the military mission is concluded, signaling an end to any remaining illusions of a peaceful settlement in the war-torn country.

According to Colonel Majed Abdullah al-Nazili, spokesman for the Yemeni government forces, the announcement followed 257 precision strikes executed on Saturday against Houthi military positions, supply routes, and logistics hubs. Al-Nazili claimed that initial assessments suggest approximately 700 Houthi fighters were killed during the targeted strikes, though casualty claims remain difficult to verify independently amidst the ongoing fog of war.

The Saudi-led coalition backing the Aden-based leadership has actively participated in the offensive. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki accused the Houthis of pursuing external agendas that have plunged Yemen into devastation. Early Sunday, the coalition reported conducting 97 precision operations utilizing combat aircraft, drones, missile systems, and artillery fire to dismantle Houthi reinforcements across the Tor al-Baha front and the strategic Taiz axis.

The Yemeni civil conflict, which began in 2014 following the fall of Sanaa, has rapidly spiraled since the collapse of the fragile 2022 truce earlier this year. In recent months, clashes have intensified near critical maritime bottlenecks, including the Bab al-Mandeb strait and the port city of Mocha, raising significant concerns over international commercial shipping security and deepening the country’s prolonged humanitarian crisis.
