Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski has successfully defended his featherweight championship belt after securing a dominant victory over Russia’s Movsar Evloev in the main event of UFC 333 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The bout, scheduled for five rounds, was dramatically halted in the dying seconds of the second frame. At 4:54, Volkanovski landed a sharp right hand followed by a decisive ground-and-pound sequence, forcing the referee to step in and award him a technical knockout (TKO) victory with just six seconds remaining on the clock.
While this marked the first professional defeat of Evloev’s career, the Russian contender maintained his composure afterward, praising Volkanovski as a great champion. Volkanovski, meanwhile, indicated that he plans to continue his fighting career for as long as his body permits and the desire remains.
The event also featured several other high-stakes bouts. In the flyweight division, Uzbekistan’s Ramazan Temirov suffered a first-round TKO loss to the English regime's fighter Lone’er Kavanagh at 4:28. Elsewhere on the card, Petr Yan and Alexander Volkov both secured crucial victories in their respective divisions.
