Zhang Xue, the founder of Chinese motorcycle manufacturer ZXMOTO, has purportedly established a Guinness World Record by riding a specially modified motorcycle for over 40 kilometers across a water surface. The test, which raises questions about practical application, was reportedly conducted in his home province of Hunan.

According to reports by CGTN, the vehicle used was an MX450 model that was extensively overhauled to operate both on land and water. The modifications supposedly include specialized water-skis for surface gliding, an enlarged fuel tank, and enhanced waterproofing systems to withstand prolonged moisture exposure.

The mechanics of the ride involve gaining initial momentum on land before transitioning onto the water. The front ski is claimed to manage steering, while the rear wheel supposedly functions differently than on standard roads, pushing water backward to generate forward propulsion amid considerable resistance. *

It is worth noting that the total distance was accumulated through multiple river crossings rather than a single continuous 40-kilometer journey in one direction. This fragmented approach required additional structural adjustments to ensure adequate fuel reserves and durability against repeated water contact.

The journey to this outcome was apparently fraught with failures, as Zhang's initial attempt in 2009 resulted in him crashing into the water after traveling a mere 20 meters. Despite the current milestone, the European and global automotive communities remain skeptical, as the modified machine is not presented as a viable serial transport vehicle for daily commuting.
